In the last post I asked my wonderful Father-in-law to remind me of anything that I might have missed in the last entry. He has graciously replied with this fantastic list outlining the details of our Bavarian experience. We have seen the ACC (Area Control Center) at the München airport, different local pubs (including an "Old prison", Weihenstephan ( the oldest brewery of the world) and "Huber" with the best Weißbier in Bavaria).
We tasted different local specialities, like Knödel, Weißwurst, Leberkäse, Brezeln, Kaminwurz, Landjäger, Dampfnudel, Kirchweihnudel, Weißbier, Red Wine, Obatzda, different kinds of cheese (sheep, goat, cow), Currywurst.
We travelled with S-Bahn, Regional Express, Regional train, light rail (Straßenbahn), U-Bahn, S-Bahn, Omnibus. We have seen an old steam driven train.
We have seen one young man surfing in the "Eisbach" in the middle of Munich.
We have seen the new Synagoge, the Viktualienmarkt, the "Königsplatz", the Residence, the "Feldherrnhalle", the "Marienplatz", the " Bayerische Staatskanzlei" (The "White House" of Bavaria). On the way to the "Verkehrsmuseum" as one part of the "Deutsche Museum" we have seen the Theresienwiese with some of the huge tents for the "Oktoberfest".
We have not seen the Alps because the weather was cold, snowy and not really nice.
Yes, this is all true. We have had these great experiences and have been enhanced culturally. But... may we add one more item to the list... Schnitzel on a Brötchen!
Everyone should visit Bavaria now... we know a great tour guide!
