A week ago today Jan came home and said he rented a car for the weekend.  I was so excited to have a set of wheels to go anywhere we wanted to.  Then he looked at me and said...
"Wanna drive to France?"
What else does a girl want to hear?... of course I wanted to drive to France, so we did.  We checked out the cute town of Colmar just over the border.  It was a beautiful drive through the black forest and then suddenly France was there!  It was definitely a border down because it didn't look too different than many of the smaller German towns that we drove through along the way.  It was great to hear some French though and try some French food.  We had a blast!

This is me eating a Tarte Flambee, a french style pizza.  Mmmm!  I had one before in northern Germany but this one was by far better.

The man that came up with the idea for the Statue of Liberty (Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi) is also from Colmar!  They had a mini statue of liberty in the middle of this roundabout.

We also visited this fortress.  It was redone about 100 years ago and they did a beautiful job.  You can walk through all the rooms and get a great idea for what it really would have been like.  The view was also amazing!

This is pastor Jan addressing his congregation of one in the Sankt Michael church in Buesingen, Deutschland.  He always wanted to try standing in one of these.  :)

Drive to France! I would love a chance to drive over the border and end up in France. How cool! The pictures look beautiful. And Jan, you look like a natural. What are you telling your congregation?
